Durango schools, and one generous business and its customers, recently scored a triple-win through the Matlock Furniture and Mattress spring education promotion.
The Durango Education Foundation board and staff thank Blair and Walter Matlock for the fundraiser they facilitated at their store throughout April. We also thank the many customers who donated to DEF; we’re so happy they were rewarded with hefty discounts on their Matlock purchases during the promotion. DEF loves it when an event has only winners, and we are grateful for such strong community support.

The Crisis Intervention Team of Southwest Colorado recently completed its 15th annual training.
The CIT program is a regional initiative designed to improve the way law enforcement and the community respond to a mental health crises. Since 2003, 295 law enforcement personnel and 97 civilians from across the region have successfully completed the rigorous training program sponsored by La Plata County Sheriff’s Office, Axis Health System and Durango Police Department. We are grateful to have a regional corps of highly-trained and compassionate CIT-certified individuals who work in the community. Our local community support for the CIT training program has been phenomenal.
