The Durango Demons varsity, junior varsity and C teams took a stand for children at the third-annual Strikeout Childhood Cancer event in April at the ball field. Players wore special “Strikeout Gold” jerseys to raise awareness.

Together, we crushed the previous record and raised $6,430 for The Truth 365, an organization committed to childhood cancer research. On behalf of the Durango Cowboy Poetry Gathering, I would like to thank River Bend Ranch and its manager, Dave Harwood, for the beautiful venue he provided for our third annual fundraiser June 4. We appreciate Three Springs for their generosity and kindness and for allowing Wolfwood Refuge to visit. It was our first large educational event in Durango, and our hearts were touched with community support and generosity. We made many new friends. The owners and staff at Three Springs worked hard to accommodate the wolves, volunteers and attendees, and the wolves would love to visit again next year.
