The Allison, Tiffany, Arboles and surrounding communities assembled at the Allison-Tiffany Cemetery on May 29 for a Memorial Day ceremony. Flags were placed on the graves of veterans and also at the Tiffany cemetery.
Lynn Swanemyr and Ted Roberts raised the flag as the Durango a cappella Quartet sang the National Anthem. Jake Nossaman led the opening and closing prayers and gave a memorial message. Andy Janowsky played his guitar and sang “Uncloud Day” and “God must have been a Cowboy.” Davylou Beaty sang “Proud to be an American” with Dusty Mars playing his guitar and people joined in. To add to the program, Bob Simons played his trombone for a few songs with Mars and his violin. The Durango Quartet ended the service with a medly of several songs. Red, white and blue balloons were released by Kendrick, Tyce and Weston Nossaman. Taps was played by Bob and Dusty.
The cemetery was well-groomed thanks to Burl and Sharon Nossaman.
Refreshments were served and people visited with each other afterward. Thanks to all the friends, neighbors and families that helped make the day special.

I wish to thank the many friends and family members who were so kind and helpful during the final months of my wife Wanda Smith’s terminal illness. Their kindness, compassion and help were very much appreciated.
I especially wish to thank the wonderful staff at Hospice of Mercy, all of whom provided the finest medical care together with endless compassion and comfort.
Another person whom I cannot thank enough is pastor Dan Straw, whose guidance and friendship were of immeasurable help, together with his presentation of a beautiful memorial service at his church. He was ably assisted by those magnificent ladies of the bunco group who so kindly prepared and served food after the service.
We received so much help from so many people that I cannot possibly thank them individually, but you all know who you are and I thank you more than I can say.
