Another Memorial Day here and gone, and here is to those I served with and have had the same opinion but were unable to pass it on in words. We volunteered to serve, and serve we did, in countries whose people took our lives because of religious beliefs that said we were infidels. Who did not believe in the prisoner’s rights in time of war and hung us from bridges, set our bodies on fire, drug our bodies through the street and even beheaded us on film.
We are not sure if we were lucky compared to the veterans at home today whose own country men and women have chosen to profit with bonus by our death. We are not sure which is more demoralizing: that our own country would turn its back on us after all we have given, or to those in power still willing to do nothing and let us suffer in silence. We always looked up to a strong leader and carried on even if we did not.
We are looking for a leader, and the current one in office and his minions have no shame or respect. I have lost respect for both political parties at this point because both are at fault, but none more so than the lying worthless one in charge today who was warned about it before he took his oath. He will not take responsibility or actions like all the other scandals before. Do the country and veterans a big favor and resign. But you will not because you believe you are better than even the lowest private or seaman who would sacrifice more than you could even imagine.
To those who are serving, to those who have served, to those who did not make it back, and to those family and friends who supported us through the many long years of sacrifice, thank you.
“A veteran is someone who, at one point in their lives, wrote a blank check made payable to the United States of America for an amount of up to and including their life.”
