Thanks for Zucchini festival success

The Pine River Library and the Pine River Garden Club want to thank everyone who attended the Inaugural Zucchini Extravaganza last Sunday. It was a great day with fabulous food, fun events, and lots of community participation. We'd especially like to thank The Transplants for providing the music-our hometown band sounded fantastic, and we can't wait to have them back again.

Thank you to the Friends of the Library for providing free drinks for everyone, and to Jake and Kinley Ash for volunteering their time at the carving and stamping table. Thank you, Midge Kirk, for teaching us about our garden loom.

Andrew Trujillo, Mimi Salber, Ann Botsford, Kami Larson, and Wendy Fielding-this event never would have happened without your hours of work.

Special thanks go to Chef Safari, Tess Challis, and Bonnie Cotton for participating in the Iron Chef style zucchini cook-off, and to Chris Lamay, Cheryl Clay, and Melanie Mazur for being our judges. And to our sponsors, SWAG and Lewis Merc True Value-thank you for your support!

Finally, thank you to everyone who made a dish, carved or decorated a zucchini, or just spent the day with us. It's a great day when a community comes together-we hope to see you next year at the Second Annual Zucchini Extravaganza! Start testing those recipes now!
