Thanks to Life-Long Lecture Series, White for insightful presentations

With appreciation and gratitude, I would like to thank Dick White for his heartfelt presentation on “Climate Migration: A New Normal,” offered Jan. 16 through the Life-Long Lecture Series at Fort Lewis College.

Dick’s passion and background as an astronomy professor (and former Durango mayor) offer an interesting lens for navigating consequences of global warming. Dick gifted participants with a unique north star to navigate human impact on the planet.

By examining the Ten Commandments and including the Earth as our neighbor, he challenged us to consider the impact of lived lives on global neighborhoods.

Like any heartfelt lecture, participants were challenged with ideas like, “How can we love one another if we don’t consider the Earth that supports our neighbor’s survival?” And, “What are we going to do about it?” Dick presented us with the playbook!
