Here is what Sen. Cory Gardner stated after the Alabama senate election:
“Tonight’s results are clear – the people of Alabama deemed Roy Moore unfit to serve in the U.S. Senate. I hope Senator-elect Doug Jones will do the right thing and truly represent Alabama by choosing to vote with the Senate Republican Majority.”
Was there ever such a myopic, desperate slave to ideology as Gardner? Does he have no concern at all for the political health of the country, or for the support of a functioning democracy?
I understand why Gardner would utter these pathetic words. After all, Gardner has been quoted as saying the election of an accused pedophile, a man banned from a local Alabama mall for his sexually predatory behavior, and a twice-removed justice of the Alabama supreme court was “imperative to passing a conservative agenda.”
What I cannot understand is Sen. Gardner’s lack of ethical or moral concern for the good of Colorado and the country. Are we to elect misogynist, racist, unlawful, sexually predatory individuals simply because of the R or D at the end of their names?
If he had one, Moore could not in good conscience have taken the oath to defend and preserve the Constitution. And yet Gardner supported him. Gardner does not deserve the support of any thinking, ethical or moral Colorado citizen. He cares only for his donors and the Republican agenda.
He should never have been elected, and does not deserve re-election.
