The First United Methodist Church of Durango to auction Tiffany & Co. gift card

The iconic Tiffany & Co. blue box could soon appear in Durango. The First United Methodist Church of Durango received a $5,000 gift card to the store that it is auctioning off.

Fantasizing about being Holly Golightly in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”? Ready to pop the question or have a big anniversary coming up?

The First United Methodist Church of Durango recently received a donation of a $5,000 gift card to the iconic Tiffany & Co. jewelry store, and because the store won’t let the church cash it in – a common policy of retailers – the church will auction off the card. Starting bid is $500, and bidding closes at 1 p.m. Jan. 31.

Forms are available at the church office, 2917 Aspen Drive, which is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays except for a lunch hour at noon. Bids should be submitted in a sealed envelope.

All proceeds will go toward the building of a new youth center at the church.

The only remaining question is: Who donates a Tiffany’s gift card to a church?
