For the second time in three weeks of this crazy little game called NFL, I found myself among the dregs of the Gridiron Green voters.
And, once again, I was not the only champion among losers.
A topsy-turvy Week 8 flipped claimed a pair of past champions in this week’s biggest losers, including riches-to-rags Week 7 winner Alison Foote, who took the boot in one short week’s time. Right there next to the Gridiron Guru and Missali23 was Waylon Foreman, our Week 5 winner.
Foote and Foreman, however, managed crazy eights, which was two points higher than the Guru’s miserable six, which was one point better than the miserly “tucson” and “wally49,” who both managed just five correct picks out of a possible 15 guesses.
Standing tall above this Week 8 thicket were a “huckster” and a “lisadonela” with a baker’s dozen worth of correct answers, and the “huckster” shucked the grand prize on the tiebreaker.
So, congratulations to David Huckins of Durango, our Week 8 champion, a new champion to lord over the Guru in another failed week for your fearless leader. I am intrepid, so I’ll soldier on.

Arizona at Dallas (KASA): A dinged-up Tony Romo and a stiff D to stop DeMarco Murray, the Cowboys, with or without Jerry Jones on the sideline, are in trouble in Jerry World. Pick: Cardinals, 23-21. Line: Cowboys by 4.
Philadelphia at Houston: The Eagles nearly pulled the coup in Cardinals’ country. This time, it’s a job well done. Pick: Eagles, 27-23. Line: Eagles by 2.
N.Y. Jets at Kansas City: Michael Vick is in, and the Kansas City Chiefs win. Pick: Chiefs, 27-13. Line: Chiefs by 9½.
Washington at Minnesota: Blitz Teddy Bridgewater, and watch RGIII (that’s right) win again. Pick: Redskins, 22-16. Line: Vikings by 2½.
Tampa Bay at Cleveland: The away team is a mess, much more so than the home team. Pick: Browns, 16-10. Line: Browns by 6½.
Jacksonville at Cincinnati: The Bengals got a little bit of their mojo back with a win against the Ravens. Pick: Bengals, 20-10. Line: Bengals by 11½.
San Diego at Miami (KCNC, KREZ): The Dolphins are not the Broncos. Pick: Chargers, 24-20. Line: Dolphins by 2.
St. Louis at San Francisco: 49ers are rested off a bye week, so, bye-bye, Rams. Pick: 30-16. Line: 49ers by 9½.
Oakland at Seattle: Seahawks make a statement. Pick: Seahawks, 20-0. Line: Seahawks by 15.
Denver at New England (KCNC, KREZ; KRSJ 100.5 FM): If I was right about anything last week, it was the Broncos postponing defeat against the Chargers. Alas, that time has come. Pick: Patriots, 34-33. Line: Broncos by 3.
Baltimore at Pittsburgh (KOBF, KUSA): Big Ben Roethlisberger and the boys have rediscovered themselves, and just in time with their spirited archrival in town. Pick: Steelers, 28-27. Line: pick ’em.

Indianapolis at N.Y. Giants (ESPN): Off a bye, at home, Monday Night Football. Why not? Pick: Giants, 34-27. Line: Colts by 3.
