The homeless are children of God, too

The best measure of the morality of a country is how it treats its most needy citizens. If Ms. Norma Byrd’s words are any measure (“

What is evident now is that the placing of nearly every person into partisan camps has also severely eroded any hope of reconciliation, respectful negotiations, honest debate, or even simple dialog.

The homeless problem is rampant in nearly every community in America. The problem in Los Angeles is nearly inconceivable, where the city averages three deaths of homeless people every day! It seems Ms. Byrd sees these human beings as somehow less than scum, when in reality each one of them is a child, a brother, a husband, a parent or a friend. Thank God for the do-gooders, who see them as children of God.

Disconnect from societal norms will never be a reason to treat these unfortunate citizens with fear or disrespect or ignorance or, God forbid, denial.
