The letters always make my morning

I have to admit, the real reason I subscribe to The Durango Herald is for the puzzles each day. I know some might think it is an expensive puzzle book, but it’s all relative, I guess.

As for unbiased news and reporting on all levels, this is simply not part of the Ballantine equation for a “fair and balanced” approach to journalism, so that content is recycled with the rest of the garbage. I do, however, enjoy the reporting on the comics page and the puzzles it provides, as they are much more stimulating than the mainstream journalism. More recently, however, I have found reading the editorial page so enjoyable. I go there first and put off the puzzles and comics until the second cup of coffee.

To see you publish the ongoing letters of liberals who lost the election by an electoral landslide not seen in decades brings great joy to my morning. Seeing how they react when they don’t get their way – adults, young adults and students of all ages – is as entertaining as “Garfield” in the morning.

To continue to see you publish comments from people who come up with excuses for their “surprise” blowout from a failed candidate with a failed message is better than reading “Doonesbury.”

Oh, these poor kids who have been trained all their lives by liberal parents that “everyone is a winner and every kid gets a medal” are as backwards as Hilary’s comment, “What difference does it make?” Well, it makes a big difference because now we have all seen the juvenile reactions of people who can’t accept defeat gracefully. No, based on their recent actions and comments, they simply don’t know how go back to the drawing board, regroup, try harder and win the old-fashioned way, by hard work over arrogance and by out-thinking your opponent.

I imagine the election night party the Ballantines hosted at the Herald was about as much fun as Hilary’s in New York as she broke down the glass ceiling ... not.

Please keep publishing those letters each day, the more the merrier.
