Bayfield High School students will present "The Music Man" for the spring musical, running for the next two weeks.
The Music Man is the classic story of a traveling salesman, Harold Hill, played by Jarod Lane, who convinces the town of River City, Iowa, that the town needs to establish a boys band to combat immorality and corruption.
Hill sells the unsuspecting townspeople on the idea, raising money for instruments and uniforms, even though he knows nothing about music.
His scam is uncovered by the local library, Marian Paroo, which is performed by BriAnne Marr.
He tries to seduce and romance the librarian, but she's onto his ways.
Will she expose the charming but deceitful Music Man? Or will he pull off one more big sale?
Sarah Ripley is making her directing debut in the musical, and Derek Smith is the music director.
Shows are at 7 p.m. on March 16, 17, 22 and 23 at the Bayfield Performing Arts Center. Cost is $7 for students and seniors, $10 for adults.
