The quality of driving is visibly declining

It is more apparent every day that the skill level of motorists has slid to an all-time low. The amount of stop light and stop sign runners has become absurd! How often does one have to do an emergency lane change because the person entering your lane has chosen to yield or disregard the stop sign in front of them? God forbid you don’t look both ways before proceeding through a green light.

I witnessed a monster truck run a red light that had changed one minute earlier. This T-bone collision would have killed all aboard. I have never seen so many red light runners. This trend toward poor driving is not a new trend but is cyclic, I believe. People become apathetic to the rules of the road, and that includes law enforcement. There is an ever-present emphasis on exceeding the speed limit. However, nothing is ever done regarding drivers well under. I feel this is nearly as hazardous.

I was elated with the story in the Herald on Jan. 19 regarding slow-moving vehicles finally! What ever happened to the slow traffic keep right? I thought it was changed to slow traffic keep left. This problem is not the fault of our neighboring states necessarily. There are many poor drivers who merely need to pay attention and realize driving is not a right but a privilege.
