The real threat is not foreign immigrants

A recent online poll showed that 52 percent of Herald readers believe that tighter rules for immigrants will curb terrorism in the U.S. There is only one problem here – there are virtually no terrorist acts committed in the U.S. by foreign-born immigrants.

The numbers show that since 9/11, slightly less that one American per year has been killed in the U.S. by foreign-born terrorists. More people are killed annually by flying champagne corks than by foreign-born terrorists.

How can public opinion arrive at such a conclusion? Well, what is happening is that Donald Trump and the Republican party are endlessly doing their absolute best to scare old white people.

To scare them about foreign-born Muslim terrorists, Mexican rapists, foreigners cheating us on trade, our dire need for more domestic carbon production and utilization, while lying about the genuine immediate threats that we do face.

Is it any wonder that with all of this lying and fear-mongering so many of our citizens feel like they need to buy more assault rifles and handguns so they can be “safe?”
