Durango police have no suspect information, only the description of a man who robbed Domino’s Pizza on Florida Road of an undisclosed amount of money Tuesday, Lt. Ray Shupe said Wednesday.
The man appeared to be Hispanic, in his late 20s or early 30s, 5 feet 8 inches, 170 to 180 pounds. He was wearing a black or dark-gray puffy jacket, black Dickies pants and black boots. He also may have had freckles and a goatee.
Officers were dispatched at 7:41 p.m. and arrived three minutes later, Shupe said.
Other officers stopped a car in the area that resembled the suspect’s vehicle, but it wasn’t a match, Shupe said.
Anyone with information should contact police Sgt. Deck Shaline at 375-4729 or Crimestoppers at 247-1212.
The suspect entered the eatery at 1485 Florida Road and told the cash-register attendant he was armed and wanted money. Employees did not see a weapon.
After receiving an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect left, boarding what appeared to be a gray- or silver-colored Ford Mustang convertible, 2005 or newer. The car had a tan top and was extremely clean.
It’s believed someone was awaiting the suspect in the vehicle, Shupe said.
There is no video of the robbery to provide clues.
A photographer with The Durango Herald saw three DPD squad cars at the restaurant shortly after 8 p.m., but the officers on scene declined to comment on the incident.
Domino’s closed for the night after the incident.
A regional manager for Domino’s declined to comment Wednesday night because the company still is gathering information and filing reports.
