Things to do in and around Durango
Local author Lori Preusch has written a children’s book that she hopes will help kids foster an open-ended view of life and the world around them.

Local artist to unveil new children’s book at James RanchTime to pack the kids up in the car and head just a little north (10 miles from Durango. to be exact) to James Ranch, where Lori Preusch will present her newly published children’s book Delivering Dreams on Saturday afternoon.

Preusch is a local author and illustrator and has been painting for more than 30 years.

Delivering Dreams is a rhyming book is about a girl whose grandfather’s letters send her on a global poetic adventure powered by nothing but her mailbox and her dreams. It was written to help children foster an open-ended view of life and the world around them, exemplifying imagination and its ability to prove that anything is possible.

At 4 p.m. Saturday, Preusch will be on the terrace at James Ranch, where there will be a reading from Delivering Dreams, and a chance to meet the author.

Is there anything better than free live music?As the summer winds down and the new school is very quickly approaching, now’s a good time to hold on to whatever carefree fun we can.

On Saturday at the Rotary Park gazebo, there will be a free concert featuring Ralph Dinosaur sponsored by SWRW.

You’re invited to bring a picnic dinner, and food and drinks from the VFW for $5 per plate will also be available. You’ll also be able to meet La Plata County commissioner candidates Lyle McKnight and Kayla Patterson.

The concert will be held from 4 to 8 p.m.
