There’s no denying – Christmas is coming
For those of you who have been good boys and girls and have finished all your holiday shopping, you deserve a break, don’t you? And what better way to relax than to give yourself the gift of a good, fancy meal and show.
So, from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, check yourself into the Starter Hotel’s Celtic Christmas, and not only will the Mahogany Grill feed you, you will also get to spend the evening with local Celtic band Patrick Crossing.
Dinner choices include spiral honey glaze ham infused with cloves and grilled lamb chops with a cabernet rosemary reduction.

Burn off all that nervous energy
You’ve done dinner and a show Friday night at the Strater, but your nerves are still shot from the holidays? Get yourself down to the Balcony Backstage on Saturday night to burn off some of that nervous energy with local musicians The Ben Gibson Band.
Members Ben Gibson, Jim Belcher and David Sachs will get your body moving with some good old-fashioned rock ’n’ roll. With influences such as Jimi Hendrix, David Gilmour, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Eric Clapton, you’ll be shaking it until it falls off.
The guys will hit the stage at 9 p.m.
Let Black Velvet keep you warm
It’s been pretty damn cold out there lately, and sometimes when that happens, the best course of action is to get yourself inside where it’s warm, there are drinks and you can hear good live music.
If that’s your plan Friday night, you’re in luck because Black Velvet will be playing at Derailed Pour House, 725 Main Ave.
Musicians Nina Sasaki and Larry Carver will wrap you in warm, snuggly layers of light pop and blues. So sit back and relax, ‘cause baby, it’s cold out there.’
The music starts at 8 p.m. and there is no cover charge.
