I was on the trolley recently, and 40 elementary school kids got on the Trolley so that it was packed and standing-room only for the whole aisle. I heard a teacher say that they had 40 kids. So it’s four or five teachers and 40 kids. Other people can’t even get on the trolley.
They were going around the entire loop, all the way from the Transit Center back to the Transit Center, apparently just for a joy ride. It seems to me that if they don’t have any consideration at all for other people who actually do have to use the trolley or the bus to go somewhere, that they’d have some rules and procedures for safety.
I mean what if the trolley hit a truck while 40 kids are packed in and all standing in the aisles, does the city have rules? Does the school have rules and procedures for that? And if they limited it to, say, a maximum of 28 riders, and they put on 20 students and five teachers, then the bus driver would have to tell people who actually do need to ride the trolley that they can’t get on because they’re at the maximum.
It seems like there would be all kinds of rules and procedures to follow for safety, if not just common-sense consideration for other people.
