A bad third quarter cost the Durango High School girls basketball a game on the road Friday night.
Outscored 16-7 in the third, the Demons fell 38-35 to Grand Junction in a Class 5A/4A Southwestern League game.
“We missed shots and they made theirs,” DHS head coach Tim Fitzpatrick said. “We have to play with more energy.”
DHS (2-4, 0-2 SWL) led 14-5 after one quarter and 18-12 at halftime before the big third quarter for Grand Junction (2-3, 2-0 SWL).
Mason Rowland, a sophomore, led DHS with 17 points. Kyle Rowland and Brenna Wolf each added five for the Demons.
DHS is slated to play a non-league game at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Montezuma-Cortez.
