This city needs to discover real ethics

I want to alert people that the city’s neighborhood meeting for comments regarding the elimination of lots size requirements for accessory dwelling units in neighborhoods EN1, 2 and 3 has been rescheduled to Monday, March 4, at 5:30 p.m. at the library. Please come and tell the city to keep these requirements in place to protect our old neighborhoods!

Another thing that concerns me about the city is that its Board of Ethics, the board that is supposed to be impartial and objective, is appointed by the City Council! I made a formal complaint against a councilor to the board three years ago, and it was voted against 4-1. Then the dissenting voter was replaced on the board!

This ethics group has not had another case come before them since then. It’s no wonder. How can it be fair and equitable when the council appoints the members?

I just want people to know about another situation where things are not always as they seem. Hopefully, the new council in April will be more transparent and act more for the community it is supposed to represent.
