Thomas 15th for Fort Lewis College at Regional Crossover

FLC golf fifth at Regional Crossover

Three rounds of golf at The Club at Ravenna gave Michael Thomas the best finish of his Fort Lewis College career.

Thomas, a FLC sophomore and a Durango High School alum, shot rounds of 74, 81 and 79 on the 7,127-yard, par-71 course in Littleton. His three-round total of 234 was good for 15th place overall at the Regional Crossover Invitational, 18 shots behind Colorado Mines’ John Ahern and Nick Berry, who tied for first for the tournament champion Orediggers.

Thomas’ previous best for FLC was a 19th-place finish at the Troy Bledsoe Skyhawk Shootout in Palm Desert, California on April 1, 2014.

Colorado Mines scored an 882 overall as a team. FLC finished fifth out of eight teams with a score of 957. Colorado Christian was second with 902, and CSU-Pueblo was third with 910.

FLC’s Dillon Washburn and Josh Woodworth finished in a four-way tie for 23rd with final scores of 240. Washburn finished strong with a 4-over 75 in his final round. Woodworth’s best 18-hole score was a 77, coming in the second of the three rounds.

Lucas Laudick tied for 30th with a final score of 249, and Trevor Bogus finished in a tie for 34th after shooting 254.

Competing individually for FLC was Mitchell Donley and Ryan Tanner. Donley’s 244 was good for 27th overall, and Tanner finished 34th with a 254. Donley closed Tuesday with a 79.

FLC will compete again early next week at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships at the Golf Club of Estrella in Goodyear, Arizona.
