While I’m sure most people who tell veterans “Thank you for your service” are sincere, the term has been so overused recently that it rings hollow, rather like “Welcome to Walmart and have a nice day.”
So I was pleasantly surprised, in fact blown away, when I stopped by CJ’s Diner for brunch last Monday to learn that for all veterans and active-duty military, all meals were free all day, no restrictions.
The folks at CJ’s really walked the talk with this incredibly generous gesture, which put big smiles on many faces. They didn’t just say “Thank you” to those who sacrificed for America ... they showed their thanks in a very tasty way.
Thank you, CJ’s. Durango is such a special town.
