A three-car crash closed one lane of traffic Tuesday on U.S. Highway 160 west of Bayfield.
Colorado State Patrol Sgt. Ivan Alvorado said one of the drivers broke a femur, and the person was being taken by helicopter to a hospital.
“Traffic is getting by on the eastbound shoulder of Highway 160,” Alvorado said. “Tow trucks are inbound for the other vehicles involved in the crash.”
According to scanner traffic, the wreck caused air bags to deploy and fluids to leak from the cars.
Alvorado said the crash in the 38000 block of Highway 160 initially closed both lanes of traffic but that responders were able to open the eastbound lane at 4:48 p.m. and begin alternating traffic past the scene.
