Three dead after sheriff’s vehicles crash into car in Colorado

VALDEZ – Three people are dead after two sheriff’s vehicles collided with a car in southern Colorado.

The Colorado State Patrol says the driver and a child in the car as well as a deputy died as a result of the crash at around 8 p.m. Wednesday near the small town of Valdez, 211 miles south of Denver. The two other deputies involved suffered minor to moderate injuries.

The patrol says the deputies were on their way to a possible domestic violence case when they hit the car, which was headed in the opposite direction on Colorado Highway 12. The two-lane road winds along the Purgatoire River through ranchland and forest.
