Four unopposed La Plata County candidates, the coroner, assessor, surveyor, and clerk and recorder will take office in January following Tuesday’s election.

Clerk and Recorder Tiffany Parker, a Republican, will start her third term next year and plans to advocate for state lawmakers to simplify the recall process for elected officials in Colorado.

Democrat Carrie Woodson will replace La Plata County Assessor Craig Larson, who has held office for 32 years.

Woodson has worked in the office for about 20 years and expects a smooth transition.

The Assessor’s Office values property, including oil and gas assets, to determine the amount of property tax owed.

Coroner Jann Smith, a Republican, was re-elected to her second four-year term and expects to work with La Plata County commissioners on a new county morgue that may be located in the old section of the La Plata County Jail. She was first appointed to office in 2012.

Surveyor Steve McCormack was re-elected to a two-year term to an office that represents the county during boundary disputes and notifies La Plata County commissioners of boundary discrepancies.
