Competing in their first conference championship tournament, the Fort Lewis College Skyhawks finished 12th in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women’s Golf Championship on Tuesday at Coldwater Golf Course in Avondale, Arizona.
The Skyhawks opened the tournament Monday with a 372 on the par-72, 5,881-yard course and followed with a 386 Tuesday for a 758 in the 12-team event.
Jessica Thulson, who has led the Skyhawks in every tournament this season, shot a 163 (80-83) to tie for 28th overall. Lindsey Blythe finished 51st with a 184 (93-91) and Lauren Trujillo improved by four strokes to place 55th at 190 (97-93). Caitlin Gaffney rounded out the Skyhawks scorers at 221 (102-119) for 58th.
MSU-Denver held a one-stroke lead after a first-round 301, then added a 298 Tuesday for a 599 and a 19-stroke victory. Colorado State-Pueblo’s Hee-Leina Kim led the 58-player field with a 9-under par 135 (69-66).
