Thulson paces FLC women’s golf

Fort Lewis College junior Jessica Thulson carded an 80 in the opening round of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women’s Golf Championship on Monday at Coldwater Golf Course (par 72, 5,881 yards) in Avondale, Arizona.

Thulson was in a tie for 24th place overall. Lindsey Blythe was second for the Skyhawks and 53rd overall with a 93, followed by Lauren Trujillo’s 97 (55th) and Caitlin Gaffney’s 102 (57th). The Skyhawks are in 12th place with a 372.

MSU-Denver holds a one-stroke lead over Western New Mexico University in the 12-team tournament. The Roadrunners carded a 13-over-par 301, followed by the Mustangs’ 302 and CSU-Pueblo’s 308.

Hee-Leina Kim of Colorado State-Pueblo and Mary Driscol of WNMU shot 3-under 69s to lead the 58-player field.

The final 18 holes will begin with a shotgun start Tuesday at 7:30 a.m.
