After returning home from vacation on Tuesday, Megan Ripe discovered her parked car on East Fourth Avenue was fitted with an abandoned-vehicle notice. The notice stated the vehicle is obstructing street maintenance, and she had 24 hours to move it. So, with the help of her friend, Andrew Bukatko, they dug it out. Steve Barkley, a code enforcement officer with the city Durango, said 16 notices have been placed on vehicles around town asking owners to move them so snowplows can clear the street.
