Time to get rid of the Electoral College

For the second time in 16 years, a Republican has been appointed to the U.S. presidency contrary to the will of the people.

Hillary Clinton won the people’s vote by 230,055 votes; in 2000, Al Gore won by 270,000 votes.

The Electoral College is an institution whose usefulness has long since lapsed.

Write to your congressman – OK, maybe not our Republican congressman; maybe Sen. Michael Bennett – and suggest that changes are definitely necessary.

The people should be the ones who elect presidents!
