Calling all people who live in Southwest Colorado!
Did you know that Cortez is named after a genocidal, privileged man who slaughtered thousands of indigenous people and stole all their wealth? Did you know the conquistadors enslaved and/or massacred nearly every tribe they encountered?
There are strong fighters among us willing to tackle the hard issues of history, and set us free from these oppressive symbols and celebrations of evil. You can find them on Facebook, fighting the good internet fight in the South for the removal of other oppressive symbols.
The time is now! Make history right and remove all references to the evil that was done by Cortez.
Then again, probably not going to happen, right? Because we don’t crap where we eat, only where we don’t eat.
