"Transition."
Bah! Slamming shut the Pine River Times, an enterprise vital to several small but vigorous communities and replacing it with a page or two in the Friday edition of the Herald seems a short-sighted method of saving a few dollars.
So you'll give us a "dedicated full-time reporter," will you? Isn't that the job now being done by Melanie Mazur, your managing editor?
And you most certainly need an editor to salvage the pitiful writing in the Herald. One recent example, quote: "...just not possible for an independent liquor store to offer as low of prices as grocery stores ..." Oh, please!
You obviously need someone who writes well, is conscious of correct grammar and spelling, and has years of experience in print journalism.
But you're throwing all that expertise away by eliminating Melanie Mazur's managing editor position, and the Pine River Times readers will be the worse for your so-called restructuring.
No, you are not giving the Pine River Valley the news and coverage it deserves with your paltry substitution.
