After Thursday night’s storm, Durango’s skies are grey and loaded with the ominous promise of more rain.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Junction, the skies will make good on that promise this afternoon.

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow wrote, “The best thing one can do when it’s raining is to let it rain.”

According to the forecast, there will be “Scattered showers before 2 p.m., then scattered showers and thunderstorms between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 4 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 45. South southwest wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.”

Tonight is even worse: “Snow showers, mainly before 3 a.m. Some thunder is also possible. Low around 29. West wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.”

Kyoto, Japan, is undergoing similarly gloomy weather, and matches Durango 45 degree temperature.

Meanwhile, in Sydney, Australia, the temperature is an equable 66 degrees, and the forecast is only partly cloudy with no chance of rain.
