Great Old Broads for Wilderness will host a Red Road to D.C. Totem Pole Journey stop from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Fort Lewis College.
The Lummi Nation in Washington state carved a 24-foot totem pole and are traveling to Washington, D.C., stopping at many sacred and cultural places to honor, unite and empower the communities it visits along the way.
The tour highlights 20 Indigenous-led struggles to protect the sacred lands, water and wildlife. The totem pole, created by the Lummi Nation’s House of Tears Carvers, will be gifted to the White House and Congress.
The event is open to the public.
