After four early-season meets, Bayfield track and field is ready to host their first home gathering of the season, starting at 10 a.m. tomorrow, while the first home baseball game gets underway at 11 a.m.
The Wolverines traveled to Farmington AGAIN on Friday, March 20 and competed in the Farmington Invite to start their spring break. "There were 15 teams there, many of them big schools," reported Coach Gary Heide. "All our athletes had outstanding performances!" Finishers in the top eight were as follows:
First: Jessica Cusick - 800m run, Jessie Roukema - high jump, Gabe Kaufmann - 100m dash, Conner Kennedy - high jump, Aubry Brown - shot put and discus throw.
Second: Katie Hawkins - pole vault, Michael Voss - pole vault.
Third: Amber Johnson - 200m dash, Bridget Goddard - 1600m run, Brian Mashak - 200m dash, boys 4x400m relay (Jackson Sibley, Ethan Tate, Dawson Heide, Colter McMenimen), boys medley relay (Jesse Westbrook, Dax Snooks, Josh Westbrook, Alex Knight), Blane Barnes - shot put and discus throw.
Fourth: girls 4x100m relay (Morgan Allred, Jessie Roukema, Amber Johnson, Amy Roach),
Fifth: Amber Johnson - triple jump, Gabe Kaufmann - 400m dash, boys 4x100m relay (Jaden Vitigliano, Gabe Kaufmann, Sam Kundrick, Brian Mashak.)
Sixth: Morgan Allred - pole vault.
Seventh: boys 4x200m relay (Sam Kundrick, Jaden Vitagliano, Carl Heide, Josh Westbrook.)
Eighth: Amber Johnson - 100m dash, Bridget Goddard - 200m dash, Carl Heide - 110 high hurdles and 300m hurdles.
On March 25, a small squad traveled to Cortez.
"Withstanding a constant wind and cool temps, the individuals that competed performed with great results!" Heide said.
First: Brady Fields - 110m high hurdles, Carl Heide - 300m hurdles, Jessie Roukema - high jump, Jessica Cusick - 200m dash and 400m dash.
