A trail enthusiast with an affinity for horses is the latest member of Trails 2000’s board of directors.
Kevin Myers joins the five-person board that guides Trails 2000, a nonprofit that advocates for trails as well as planning, building and maintaining them. It was founded in 1989.
Myers is chief executive officer of EasyCare Inc., a manufacturer and distribution company in the equine field, according to a news release from Trails 2000.
He enjoys running and mountain biking as well as riding horses, the news release said. He has competed five times in the Tevis Cup, a 100-mile equestrian competition in Northern California, and has placed in the top five the last two years.
He was raised in London and lived in British Columbia and Phoenix before coming to Durango.
“I moved to Durango because of the extensive trail systems,” Myers was quoted in the news release. “It is an honor to work with an organization that provides Durango with a world-class trail network for the thousands of residents and tourists who utilize our trails.
“Trails 2000 provides our community with a tangible asset that greatly contributes to what makes Durango unique and special: our outdoor surroundings,” the release says.
Other current board members are Daryl Crites, president; John Baxter, secretary; Terryl Peterson, treasurer; and Melissa Youssef. Mary Monroe Brown has served as executive director since December 2005.
