Trails 2000’s season-opening trailwork day actually will be two days of tree-planting this year.
The “Trailwork Season Kickoff Party” is April 11-12 at Vallecito Reservoir’s Pine Point Campground. It’s on the northeast side of the lake, just across from Five Branches Campground and RV Park.
Work will be done from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. both days. Volunteers can spend as much time as they can spare planting trees and having fun, Trails 2000 said on its website.
Participants should meet below the dam, where the new road goes to the east side of the lake, for meeting and planting. Volunteers should sign in at the work truck.
Trails 2000 suggests wearing long pants, long-sleeved shirt, closed-toe shoes and a sun hat. Bring sunscreen, a water bottle, rain jacket and your own lunch. Trails 2000 supplies tools and water.
Trails 2000 hosts work crews throughout the summer, generally on local trails.
