La Plata County Department of Human Services will offer a free training session for foster and adoptive parents, child welfare professionals and others interested in the health of at-risk youths from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.
Joshua Wayne, youth development expert with more than 20 years of experience in the field, will lead the seminar. Wayne has trained and consulted police departments, school districts, state and local governments, and youth organizations across the county about how to work effectively with at-risk youth and their families.
He is the co-creator of One Caring Adult, a training program that teaches how to decode teen behavior, reverse at-risk behavior and help at-risk youth become healthy, independent adults.
