A trial date was set Thursday for a former Fort Lewis College football player who allegedly robbed a man at knife-point at a downtown ATM.

Maurice Anderson, 30, is scheduled for a 9 a.m. Jan. 7, 2016, pre-trial conference with a trial date set for 8 a.m. Jan. 11, 2016.

Sixth Judicial District Judge Jeffrey Wilson handed down five Class 3 felony charges to Anderson earlier this month including three counts of aggravated robbery and two counts of assault in the first degree, to which the defendant pled not guilty.

Court documents say on April 21, Anderson approached an ATM user from behind at the Bank of the San Juans located at 144 E. Eighth Street. The defendant allegedly stabbed the victim in the chin and fled with the customer’s money in a white Toyota Prius.

The victim received stitches from the wound at Mercy Regional Medical Center, but the injuries were non-life threatening.

An ATM surveillance camera depicts the robber wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, sunglasses and a scarf concealing his face. Anderson was apprehended May 22 at the Sky Ute Casino in Ignacio. He was arrested on suspicion of felony robbery and assault.
