Tribute to a local artist Juanita Ainsley

Wow ... what a woman ... what a life (Herald, May 25)! Aunt Juanita, you have inspired us all!

I didn’t realize the effect that you have had on my life until this past week. Since you left us, I have sensed you all around me. I have seen you in the sunrises and sunsets and in the new wildflowers blooming in the meadow. I have felt you in the rain and in the sun beaming down upon my face.

While walking and in deep thought, I thought about you and all of the adventures and experiences in my life that you were responsible for. You were our teacher without us even knowing we were your students. You showed me so many things. I have so many memories that you are in.

How successful in everything you were! What a role model! How strong! What an independent woman! You lived your life your way, in every way, and not only succeeded but became “immortal as your helpful influence rippled through the lives and relationships of others.”

I miss you. I love you. I admire you. I strive to be like you. I share my memories with my children, and I thank you for everything that you have shared with me. You will live on through us and the things that you have taught us. Forever.
