Trump’s intervention reveals big oil’s influence

If anyone thought that the geopolitical impact of fossil fuels was only so much rhetoric, Donald Trump has just corrected that assumption. Venezuela has over three times the oil reserves in the ground compared to the U.S. That fact alone is the reason why Trump has deposed their leader and created chaos in their country. Oil. Any other reason is just a smoke screen. It appears that the sovereignty of a country means nothing if they have a lot of oil, and it might lower gas prices in the U.S.

Trump is remaking this country in his own image: cruel, selfish, violent, lawless and arrogant. This country is becoming a rogue state that should be ostracized and condemned by the rest of the world for our actions. Trump’s Big Oil donors have never had a more loyal champion in the White House, and they’re smiling all the way to the bank. Climate be damned.

The geopolitics of fossil fuels is an international disaster. We need renewable energy now more than ever.
