Turtle Lake Refuge to host wild plant foraging retreat

Turtle Lake Refuge will host a wild plant foraging retreat from 7 a.m. Friday through 8 p.m. June 4.

Participants will learn about wild edible and medicinal plants, how to identify them and how to make recipes using them. People will also learn about permaculture gardening, planting microgreens and holistic health while exploring time in nature.

The retreat will start at a guest house near Turtle Lake Refuge’s Permaculture Farm. The second part of the retreat will be spent at a hut in the La Plata Mountains about 30 minutes from Durango.

Participants will immerse into nature for day hikes, foraging and making food and medicines. Food for the retreat will be focused on locally grown, organic, wild and living food meals.

All accommodations, food and transportation are included in the cost of the retreat.
