TV tonight: ‘Office,’ ‘Grey’s,’ ‘Elementary’

“The Office” (NBC)

It’s the last Thursday of the broadcast TV season, and it’s even more crowded than usual, what with the American Idol finale moving over here from its normal final-night-of-the-season perch. (And yes, you can add that to your “how the mighty have fallen” list.) Odds are most people will be watching Idol or CBS’ “The Big Bang Theory” in this slot, but anyone still fond of NBC’s Americanized version of “The Office” will at least want to record this hour-long retrospective salute — followed by a 75-minute last episode — for future viewing.

“Grey’s Anatomy” (ABC)

Scandal may get more attention of late, but the saner, yet more enjoyable, Grey’s remains ABC’s best and most popular drama, which is a comment both on the continuing strength of the show and the weakness of ABC’s development. It might be nice if “Grey’s” rewarded its fans’ loyalty with a happy season-ender for a change, but if the promos are to be believed, that’s not in the cards.

“Elementary” (CBS)

TV’s most entertaining new broadcast drama ends its first season with a two-hour special that picks up from Sherlock’s discovery that Irene Adler (Natalie Dormer) is still alive, a story that has pulled Moriarty into the center of the series’ mythology and brought out the best in star Jonny Lee Miller. Considering how crowded the field is, it will be incredibly tough for him to get an Emmy nomination this year — still, Miller’s work over the last few weeks should at least earn him some consideration.
