Eva-Lou Edwards’ winning is contagious.
Edwards finished first at the Montezuma-Cortez Ancient Trails Invitational in her final high school invitational with a time of 19 minutes, 22 seconds, while Trevor Gabbard of Bayfield High School won the boys race in 17:55.
The Wolverines, led by Edwards, came in second place in the girls team competition and fifth as a boys team.
For the BHS boys: Caleb Sapa came in 22nd place at 19:39, Alex Knight in 29th at 20:18, Justis Herrera in 40th at 21:45 and Joey Sandrey in 47th at 23:14.
For the BHS girls: Aubree Lorenzen finished fifth in 22:04, Bridget Goddard seventh in 22:24, Danielle Miller 22nd in 25:13, Maggie Zink 25th in 25:39 and Cameron Spencer 43rd in 34:24.
The Wolverines’ cross country team next will compete in Class 3A regionals Oct. 18 in Delta.
