Twin Buttes to conduct series of controlled burns

Durango Parks and Recreation, Durango Fire Protection District and Twin Buttes will conduct controlled burns of slash piles starting Wednesday and continuing through March 30 in the Twin Buttes Open Space, about 7 miles west of Durango off U.S. Highway 160.

Controlled burns are conducted to decrease the risk of wildfire. The public is urged to be aware of crews, equipment and vehicles in the open space area as burns take place.
