Law enforcement has made two arrests in connection with a shooting death Sunday in Archuleta County.
The Archuleta County Sheriff’s Office released few details Monday, including where the incident occurred, who was arrested and who was killed.
The Colorado State Patrol was contacted by a man in Archuleta County who said he shot and possibly killed another man, according to a one-paragraph news release Monday. The State Patrol relayed that information to the Sheriff’s Office at 10:26 a.m.
Sheriff’s deputies and state troopers went to the scene and confirmed the shooting death.
“The subjects involved in the incident were detained for questioning,” the release says.
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation was notified and asked to help process the crime scene and conduct interviews.
An autopsy is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday in Durango, said Undersheriff Tonya Hamilton.
“Notifying next of kin has been a challenge,” she said in an email to the Herald.
The Sheriff’s Office said it expects to release more information Tuesday.
