Milt Beens, a painter and potter from Durango, and Jan Wright, watercolor artist from Mancos, will host a show and sale of more than 40 paintings of Mesa Verde National Park at Artisans of Mancos, 101 Grand Ave. in Mancos.
There will be an opening reception featuring various chili dishes from several artisans on from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday.
Wright, a Mesa Verde volunteer since 2008, exhibited at Far View Lodge for six years, was Artist in Residence in October 2012, and then coordinated the AiR program at the park for three years.
Beens, perhaps known more for his unique, functional pottery, has always painted in watercolor, acrylics and, now, oils. Beens’ many talents brought him to Artisans of Mancos nine years ago, though he has exhibited throughout Durango for 40 years, has been an active member of Durango Art Center, had a gallery for five years and has won several awards as a painter in Durango and Ouray. He was Artist in Residence at Mesa Verde in September 2015.
