Two Durango men who were expected to return Monday to the Pine River Valley trailhead made a delayed arrival around midnight this morning.

The men were climbing through the Pine River Trail System, northeast of Vallecito Reservoir.

Search and rescue teams scheduled to respond at daylight were called off after the men arrived safely, said Butch Knowlton with La Plata County Search & Rescue.

“Everything worked out OK last night; the guys were just late getting back down the canyon out of the wilderness. There were no issues,” Knowlton said.
