Dispatch reportedly received multiple calls of the truck traveling north and then veering off the road into the Speedway. When deputies arrived on scene, they found significant damage to the metal awning, and the pickup was in a yard near County Road 1424.
“Witnesses described the driver as appearing disoriented after the accident,” said Mathew Chavez, public information manager for the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office. “Despite attempts to ascertain the events leading to the collision, the driver claimed to have no recollection.”
Chavez said alcohol does not appear to be a factor, and “the driver may have experienced a medical episode prior to the accident.”
No one was injured in the crash.
