Two semitrailers rolled over on U.S. Highway 550 around 10 p.m. Tuesday.
Trooper Nathan Reid with the Colorado State Patrol said the accident took place at milepost 2, which is two miles north of the New Mexico border.
“There weren’t any human injuries,” he said, “but apparently there are some dead cows.”
The circumstances of the accident and how the cows were killed were not immediately known, Reid said late Tuesday night. Details probably won’t be available until today.
One truck was carrying propane, and the other was transporting grocery materials, including bleach and dish soap, he said.
“Neither truck is leaking at this time,” he said shortly before 10:30 p.m.
