Two of three teenagers injured in a rollover crash early Sunday remained hospitalized on Tuesday, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
A 17-year-old boy, who was thrown from the vehicle, remained on a ventilator as of Tuesday afternoon, said Capt. Adrian Driscoll, with the State Patrol.
A 13-year-old girl was expected to have surgery on her pelvis, and if all went well, she is expected to be released Monday from the hospital, he said. A 14-year-old girl is at home recovering, he said.
The State Patrol declined to release names of the teenagers, saying they are minors.
The crash occurred about 2:45 a.m. Sunday about a mile west of Gem Village on U.S. Highway 160, at mile marker 99.4.
According to the Colorado State Patrol, a 2004 Chevy Avalanche with Colorado plates was traveling east when it ran off the right side of the road.
When asked who was driving, Driscoll said the crash remains under investigation.
“We’re still looking at every possibility,” he said.
No charges had been filed as of Wednesday.
Alcohol is suspected to have played a role, he said.
None of the occupants wore seat belts, troopers said.
